Johnny Cash would have turned 90 on February 26, this year. He was one of the most influential US singers and songwriters, was awarded 13 Grammys and was inducted into both the Country and Rock’n Roll Hall of Fame. He always combined his music with political advocacy for outsiders and indigenous people. Cash’s stage wardrobe was always black, which he also addressed in one of his songs: “Black I wear for the poor who are hungry but have no hope”.

Cash’s musical range was fascinating. In his last years, he experienced an unprecedented comeback with his “American Recordings” series, in which he interpreted current rock and pop songs alongside country and gospel pieces. This sonorous diversity will be reflected in the tribute to Johnny Cash. Stars of different musical genres will pick their favourite song from the almost inexhaustible repertoire of the musician to be honoured and interpret it in their own way.

Berlin songwriter and singer Manfred Maurenbrecher will host this unique evening and welcome the following colleagues to the Wintergarten stage: Uschi Brüning, Antje Rietz, Katrin Sass, Maria Simon, Peter Lohmeyer, Reiner Schöne, Ron Williams and Heinrich Doc Wolf. They are all accompanied by Claus-Dieter Bandorf and his band of great musicians assembled especially for this show.

Let yourself be seduced by culinary delights, from clever snacks to exquisite 3-course menus, and enjoy the show with a good bottle of wine, a sparkling glass of champagne or a sophisticated cocktail.
